Google Makes Its AI Pro Suite Free for College Students in Select Countries

Google is now offering its AI Pro plan free to eligible college students in the United States, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Brazil. The one-year subscription unlocks a suite of advanced AI tools designed to boost research, creativity, and productivity. This is part of a $1 billion education initiative aimed at enhancing AI literacy worldwide. Eligible students can take advantage of Google AI Pro free for college researchers in these regions.

What’s Included in the Free Google AI Pro Plan

  • Gemini 2.5 Pro — Google’s most advanced AI model, capable of answering complex questions, analyzing images, and assisting with assignments and writing tasks.
  • Deep Research — Summarizes data from hundreds of sources into clear, structured reports.
  • NotebookLM (Pro) — An advanced note-taking assistant with greater capacity for generating audio and video summaries.
  • Veo 3 — Generates short, high-quality videos from text or images, ideal for creative projects and presentations.
  • Jules (AI Coding Agent) — Helps debug code and develop project features with expanded usage limits.
  • 2 TB of Storage — Additional space across Google Drive, Gmail, and Photos for storing academic materials.

Guided Learning: More Than Just Answers

The AI Pro plan includes a new Guided Learning mode in Gemini, designed to act as a tutor. Instead of simply providing direct answers, it walks students through each step of the learning process, encourages questions, and builds critical thinking skills. This approach has been developed with input from educators and learning specialists, enhancing the effectiveness of Google AI, now Pro and free for eligible learners.

A $1 Billion Commitment to AI Education

Google is also investing $1 billion over the next three years to expand AI education and workforce readiness. The investment includes:

  • AI literacy programs and research funding
  • Cloud computing resources for academic institutions
  • The Google AI for Education Accelerator, offering free AI training and Google Career Certificates to all U.S. college students
  • Partnerships with more than 100 universities around the world

Why This Matters for Students

This initiative opens the door to:

  • Accessing cutting-edge AI tools without cost barriers
  • Learning through personalized, interactive guidance
  • Building skills that are increasingly valuable in the AI-powered job market, with Google AI Pro free for student innovators

Enrollment for the free AI Pro plan is open until October 6, 2025. Students in eligible countries should apply soon to make the most of this opportunity.
